My Latest Artwork (and a short Friday Update)

It’s time again for our Friday Update… but this week will be a short one! We’ve been busy all week running errands, working, and packing – trying to tie up all the loose ends before we leave for our TRIP! That’s right – we are headed out of town for a week. Where? I don’t know! Rusty’s been working on a surprise for months for our 1st anniversary. He ‘revealed’ part of it Sunday in a card that said, “Be packed and ready for the airport by 9:30am Saturday. Pack for SUN, FUN, & WATER!” So… that’s all I know! We’ll be gone for a week, and I’ll find out more throughout the day tomorrow while we are on our way. It’s SO exciting!!! I can’t believe Rusty has gone to all this trouble (and kept it a secret for so long!)

So… we’ll be on vacation next week (so no Friday Update then), and this week will be short and sweet – I have to finish packing! Just thought you’d like to see my latest pieces of artwork! These were mailed to my friends down South a week ago; so now I can finally reveal them!

———————————-

The first is a painting I did for my friend Shelley Owens, in memory of her sweet Dad Hubbard Owens. Hubbard flew to eternity this past December, and I wanted to do something special for Shelley to remember him by. He was so kind, loving, and happy, and Shelley loved him very much. When I began to pray about what to paint, God kept giving me a vision of a bird. I was reminded in scripture how He cares for the sparrows, and all the other symbols of doves in the Bible; the dove that descended on Jesus (a symbol of the Holy Spirit), and the dove that brought back an olive branch after the flood (a symbol of new life after death).

So, I painted a Dove, flying to the heavens for Shelley. The colors are symbolic; blue represents happiness and peace; white symbolizes purity & light. The words represent everything her Dad experienced the day he went to be with Jesus. They also represent everything God wants to give Shelley, as her heart is broken and she is missing her sweet Dad.

Shelley – it was an HONOR to paint this for you.
I hope it is a beautiful reminder of the wonderful man your Daddy was…
and a reminder of the Heavenly Father’s love for you!

The next two paintings were a gift for my friends Kira & Oliver Aaron. I met Oliver in college when we worked across the hall from each other on campus; I worked in the Auburn Admissions office, and Oliver worked in the Financial Aide office. A few years later I was blessed to meet the love of his life, Kira, when she became my co-worker in Admissions. She and I hit it off immediately; it’s impossible not to love her sweet spirit and love for laughter! Add in the fact that she loves Jesus, Auburn, Pageants, & Music and we were destined to be friends!

I cherished Kira & Oliver’s friendship throughout college and was honored to sing at their wedding two years ago. When I found out they were expecting I was THRILLED! Their little girl is due in May, so I have been working on these pieces for her nursery.

Little Miss Elizabeth Anne, you are one lucky little girl…
you are going to have two of the coolest, sweetest parents in the world!
I can’t wait to meet you and watch you grow up!

Here is the finished set! Her nursery is hot pink, lime green, yellow, & white…
I hope these complement it well! 😉

That’s all we have for this week! I’m off to finish packing!!! 🙂
So far, all the paintings I’ve done have been gifts, but I am open to selling some pieces!
