There is nothing more beautiful than to rescue an orphan, to give them your name, and to welcome them into a loving family. It is such an incredible example of love, compassion, and provision, and a beautiful picture of what God has done for us!
International adoption was brought to my attention in a BIG way in college when my campus minister and his wife announced that they were adopting a little girl from China. They prayed in several services for God to burden others hearts to adopt. I felt a pull towards adoption then that has only grown with time. My first trip to Africa in 2007 sealed the deal – there adoption became one of my hearts desires.
Kelley Brown writes one of my FAVORITE blogs. She has such a gift for sharing what is on her heart and mind, and what God is teaching her. She’s also a former Miss Alabama Pageant contestant, and an Auburn Alumna…so of course we are kindred spirits! I’ve been following her blog avidly for the past few months, reading all about her family and their adoption journey. They have been through so much as a family; losing five babies to miscarriages and then finally having sweet little Carter. They have been praying for a little girl from China for years now, and the day has FINALLY come when they will go and get her!
When I read the news today that their Travel Date had been approved, I almost shouted! I have read every blog she’s written about their adoption process, and rejoiced with every step they took closer to bringing their little girl home. Now the day has finally come for them to go and get her!
Scott & Kelley leave TOMORROW (April 6) for China, and will be gone for 18 days. They will finally meet their daughter, Virginia Grace on April 12. Please cover this process in prayer! Please pray for Scott & Kelley – for traveling mercies and that God would prepare their hearts. Pray for their son Carter who will be in the US and away from them for over 2 weeks, and pray for sweet Virginia Grace as her life is about to change drastically. Pray that God will prepare her tender heart to meet her forever family, and that they would bond quickly. May He connect their hearts in a supernatural way so she will know she is loved and safe with them.
You can visit Kelley’s blog for more details about this process and to read about their family and their adoption journey. I know you’ll love it!
We pray blessings over you and your sweet Virginia Grace!
