Those of you who are regular blog readers of mine know that we've been talking alot about Christmas lately. We've been talking about the REAL reason for the season (CHRIST) and about ways to honor Him this year, by sacrificing decorations to GIVE money to those in need, buying presents that support

missions, and other RADICAL Christmas ideas!

For those of you taking part in these things, I wanted to encourage you by sharing some information about others doing similar things.
The Church at Brookhills is one of those places. They have started something radical that they have aptly named, The Radical Experiment.

This church is really doing some extreme things, like putting a cap on their spending (as a church and as individual members) to be able to provide for the poor...decorating their church with only no-cost or low-cost Christmas decorations... and other really incredible commitments you can read about here: www.radicalexperiment.org

They also have a discussion site, where church members are sharing their stories about their personal RADICAL sacrifices (there are some great ideas and tips there - check it out!), and a media source where you can watch or listen to podcasts about "What the Gospel Demands". I haven't had time to listen to this series yet, but I can tell you that pastor David Platt is one of the most incredible speakers I've ever heard! I would encourage you to listen to any of his messages.

There's another church doing radical things this year, Antioch Church in Bend, OR. My friend Jane Johnson put together a Christmas Catalog for their members filled with options for giving to those less fortunate. This church recently shared a video that will drastically change the way you view Christmas. Please take 2 minutes to watch it... it will quickly kill the monsters of materialism and tune your heart back to the TRUE meaning of Christmas.
