A Missionary’s Life :: $1,236 and a Hit & Run
It’s that time again….time for our FRIDAY UPDATE!
Hit & Run. I thought I’d start out this update with our most dramatic news…the hit and run we were involved in this week. That’s right friends, we got HIT BY A DEER. No, we didn’t hit a deer…IT HIT US! Wednesday night as we were driving home, a deer ran out into the road. Rusty slammed on the brakes and tried to miss her when SHE HIT US! BAM!! Right into the side of the truck. Luckily we weren’t hurt and there was no damage to the truck. We were upset with the thought that she was in pain and pulled over to look for her, only to find her long gone! She’d run off, so we’re hoping she is ok. Again- to those of you who pray for our safety as we travel, THANK YOU!
Home Sweet Georgia. Every time we come down to Training Camp we stay with an AIM staff member. We have been so thankful for the way they have all generously opened their homes to us, but it’s always been a little difficult being newly-weds on a crazy schedule living with another family for 2 weeks. This time, WE GOT OUR OWN APARTMENT! The AWESOME Williams Family gave us their apartment (joined to their house) for our time in GA. We had our own room, bathroom, living-room and kitchen. It made a world of difference for us to have our own space. Sarah & Kevin, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts! (We really enjoyed our hang out time with you and your sweet kids too!)
Auburn World Racers. Two friends of mine from college are going on The World Race! It was so neat to see my Auburn friends, Lana and Lauren, at Training Camp this week. It was also encouraging to know that they decided to go on the race after talking to me and especially after talking to Rusty! It’s so exciting to see how God is using us in the lives of others. Lana & Lauren- He has BIG plans for you!!! We can’t wait to see all God will do in and through you on the Race!
New friends. The past week and a half we’ve had a chance to meet a lot of new World Race friends (who finished the race in the past year). It was SO good to meet them, hear their stories, and hang out with them. It was even better to find out that several of them are MOVING TO MICHIGAN! I am looking forward to getting some new girlfriends soon!
Old friends. It was also great to catch up with some old friends. I really miss seeing all my AIM co-workers that I used to see every day in the office. I enjoyed working with them, catching up, and just being surrounded by them this week. We are truly BLESSED to have so many wonderful co-workers that are also friends! We also got to spend some time with Seth Barnes (our spiritual dad/boss/director of AIM) and some of the AWESOME World Race coaches! It is such a treat to see them all!
$1,236.00. Did you see that number? $1,236! That’s the amount of money we raised for orphans this week at Training Camp! I got an opporutunity to share about The Sound of Hope with these World Racers, and then gave them a chance to buy merchandise and give donations. At the end of the day our total was $1,236! PRAISE GOD!
Ministry, healing, & breakthrough. The ministry that happened this week at Training Camp was incredible. It was such an honor to take part in ministering to these Racers who are called to go to the nations! We saw God bring deep healing to many of these young men and women, and were able to see incredible breakthrough as they began ministering to one another. God has BIG PLANS for this group, and we’re so glad we got to help prepare them to go bring His love, truth, and healing to THE WORLD!
Well friends, that’s all we have this week! Overall it was a great Training Camp. Rusty did a wonderful job with the Men’s Retreat, I enjoyed connecting to the young women, and we both had a great time leading the World Race Parent’s Reception. We’re enjoying a day off tomorrow and are excited about seeing my family and watching some football!!! We fly home Sunday, so please keep us in your prayers!
