It’s time for our “Friday Update” –
the once a week blog where we fill you in on all the random stuff we’ve been up to.
Check it out below!

The Sound of Hope goes 501c3.
If you missed Wednesday’s blog, PLEASE check it out! In it we announced
big news – we are starting our own non-profit! The Sound of Hope is in
the works now. Details about the changes coming are outlined in
Thursday’s blog (so please check that
one out too! ESPECIALLY if you’re one of our supporters!) To all of you who’ve responded with your encouraging
comments and willingness to pray and help, THANK YOU! You have no idea
how much your support means to us! We are SO excited about this new
chapter!!! If you have any other questions about it please let us know!

My husband, the Physics teacher.
Yes, you read that right! For those of you who know my Dad, you might
remember that he was a Physics teacher for 19 years. Well, today Rusty
got his first substitute teaching job, and guess what teacher he filled
in for…. that’s right, the Physics teacher! IRONY ANYONE?! I couldn’t
help but laugh! He called during his planning period and said he’s
having a lot of fun. Of course, as my Dad says, “Physics is Phun!” (Rusty got certified as a sub in January so that he
could do 2-4 days a month when he’s not too busy. A little extra money
goes a long way! 🙂

I got bangs. Alright,
this post is for my girlfriends back home who read (sorry for those of
you who don’t care! haha!) I got bangs cut in this week…you know,
those trendy, swoopy, side bangs? They are super cute but driving me
BANANAS because they’re in my eyes all day. I’m slowly getting used to
them though and really liking my new look! Don’t worry… I’ll have
pictures for you soon because now we are….

Modeling missionaries.
That’s right! For all of you sweet people who saw our engagement and
wedding pictures and told us we should MODEL for extra money, we took
your advice! Our friends Shawn and Rosie Gearhart have an iStock
business
, and they hired us to be their models! (iStock is a website
that provides pictures for things like online ads, book covers, print
advertisements, the pictures in the frames you buy, etc). We’re getting
paid a monthly fee to do 2 to 3 shoots a month. I’m excited about
trying a lot of new things, and getting to use some of my old costumes
from my performance days! Some shoots will be glamorous, some just
plain FUNNY. Yesterday, I was a ‘ROCKSTAR’, and let me tell you, I have
a whole new respect for models! After jumping, bending, and posing all
those weird ways my body is SO sore! But it was a BLAST, and we’re
looking forward to doing more shoots in the future! As soon as the
pictures are online I’ll post a link so you can check them out!

-19 degrees.
For those of you who read last week’s update, I shared that I’d gotten
x-rays at the chiropractor and found that my spine (neck) was bent the
wrong way. I didn’t know until my appointment Tuesday just how bad it
was though! Your neck should have a 45 degree angle forward. The WORST
it can get is -20 degrees. Mine is -19 degrees! YIKES! I started
treatment this week and it has not been fun. Apparently your body
reacts to aggressive chiropractic care similarly to when you have
braces put on your teeth – in PAIN! I’ve had 2 horrible headaches this
week that had me in tears. I know this will HELP in the future, but for
now it’s pretty frustrating. Please pray my body will cooperate better,
and pray God will CURVE my neck forward 64 degrees!

Pastor Mark or ROCKY?! Rusty’s latest video is posted below. This is another funny video from our ‘Walking Exposed’ series at church. (Check out the message “Grace Gone Wild“. It’s on the bottom left of the screen.) This week, you’ll meet our Pastor, Mark Wargo. Check it out if you want a laugh!

  1. I am so excited that you guys are going to be missionary models! That rocks! You guys really are beautiful inside and out so why not let God use the outside too! Yahoo! Love you both!

  2. HEY!! I really cannot express how excited I am for you both…God’s hand is on you every step of the way. It just seems like in the time we are living in now that God is not asking anyone’s permission to do anything, He is doing it and using whomever is willing, and you two are willing. You both are such a blessing to me and I really am touched to know you both!! =)
