We have a praise!
The million man march that Raila (opposition leader) had called for was
not successful in convening at Uhuru park. The police stood their
ground in surrounding the venue and allowed no one in. Thousands of
people were kept in Kibera by military police blocking the routes out
of the slum. Despite the supposed “shoot to kill” order, the military
police only shot into the air above the protesters and used water
cannons to disperse the crowds. They played a game of cat and mouse
all day trying to subdue the crowds until finally at 4pm the police
left Kibera. Some groups within Kibera responded with more violence,
mostly burning homes, shops, and churches. Michelle said the news is
only reporting one death today from the police/rioters conflict.
This is a praise– God is hearing our prayers! The situation is still far from under control though, and we still need you to pray! Read the rest of today’s update here.
I’ve listed some specific prayer requests for those of you who’d like to pray for our friends by name. Here they are from Kayla:
As I have been speaking with our many friends in Kenya, I’ve been recording specific prayer requests they have.
– Pray for a sense of hope to be restored among all Kenyans
– Pray for the people of Kibera to be able to find food and water to survive
– Pray for righteousness to rule Kenya

-safety and security as she is from one of the targeted tribes

of protection over them wherever they currently are. They all went to
visit their relatives over the holiday and are scattered all about the

-Pray for us to be able to get in touch with them to know they are ok.
-blinders over their eyes, so as not to see the brutal violence that envelops them.
Michelle and family:
– pray for Michelle’s physical health as she continues to recover from recent surgery
– pray for wisdom for Joseph as he decides whether or not to go protest
– pray for peace for the kids (Shalom and Victor) as they are so scared
– pray that their home which they were run out of will be secure and not looted

and even killing those of specific tribal identites.
